Maryland Highway Centennial - A Century of Progress {1908 - 2008}
Customer driven, now more than ever.
The Maryland State Roads Commission (SRC) was founded in 1908, making 2008 the 100th Anniversary of modern road building in Maryland. The anniversary is shared by a number of organizations, since many of the roads and bridges commissioned by the SRC now belong to the counties, State Highway Administration and Maryland Transportation Authority. What’s more, because so much of the design and construction was performed by private firms and contractors, the 100th Anniversary Celebration offers an opportunity for all of us in the highway industry to connect with the people who drive Maryland’s roads. People like you! To remind you how Maryland’s highways help to drive our economy and quality of life. And that your safety and satisfaction remain at all times our number one priority, now more than ever. Now let's celebrate!
